Dr. Lai decided in Grade 12 she wanted to become an optometrist when she
shadowed a local optometrist in her hometown of Barrie, Ontario. She
thought it would be a great fit since she liked helping people and
she wanted to pursue a career in the health field. Dr. Lai went on to
graduate from the University of Waterloo with her Doctor of Optometry
degree in 2003. Thereafter she practiced in Brantford, ON, and
Waterloo, ON where she met her future spouse, Frederick Lai (founder,
of All About Eyewear Optical www.allabouteyewear.ca).
They stayed in Waterloo for a couple of years and then moved to Vancouver,
BC. They enjoyed their time on the West coast eating lots of
sushi and exploring Grouse Mountain.Although they enjoyed their time
in BC they ultimately decided to settle down on the East Coast. The
relaxed maritime way of life and the friendly people made it an easy
decision!
August 8, 2008, All About Eyecare Optometrists opened in Bedford, NS. It was
a dream come true for Dr. Lai to open this practice and she is
grateful for the warm welcome to the community and the wonderful
patients she has seen over the years. Since then the
practice has grown and she is happy to have some very caring
associate optometrists join her in providing quality care to patients
in the community.
Dr. Alice Yuan grew up in Vancouver, BC. She completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo and was the recipient of the Good-Lite Pediatric Optometry award. Dr. Yuan has trained at many different externship locations, including a rotation at the Eye Centers of South Florida in Miami, where she worked alongside various ophthalmologists. She has also participated in clinics in Mexico, Manitoulin Island, and Northern Ontario to provide eye care to underserved communities.
Dr. Yuan has also completed a residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy where she received additional training in the areas of pediatric optometry, binocular vision therapy, neuro-rehabilitation, and eye care for special needs populations. She is committed to providing excellent care to patients of all ages. Dr. Yuan is happy to provide eye exams in English and Mandarin. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and travelling.
